Hello
The R stands for Robert, which is my legal name. However, I’ve always been a Bob. It sounds a bit friendlier, simple. Definitely a better fit for someone who has spent his life making products for children. For almost 40 years I have been illustrating books, writing stories, creating cartoon shows, and designing toys. I have tried to thoughtfully created with relevant ideas, things that entertain, enlighten, motivate, and foster curiosity, but it’s mostly about play. My personal work reflects this history.
I’m inspired by rocks, architecture, industrial objects, old cartoons, my grandfather’s auto parts store and cars in general, jazz, the micro and the macro.
My work is about my pleasure in seeing. I see shapes. The way they interact in space, the way they create form, the way they are inherently kinetic, the beauty of their geometry.
I create images digitally and produce giclée prints in limited or open editions.
I live and work in the Kansas City area.
Bob
